Career Description

Vendasta’s General Manager of the Platform Division is an executive level position reporting to the CEO. Through extensive engineering and product management expertise the GM helps prioritize the work being completed by various cross functional Research & Development teams to ensure it aligns with the company’s overall goals, exceeds customer expectations, and keeps Vendasta a leader within the market.

The GM of Platform will oversee high-level projects from ideation to delivery. Working with internal teams and external Partners, they will become the expert on users at all stages to successfully develop highly effective and scalable solutions.

The ideal candidate will be a visionary who works towards innovation and efficiency and never stops seeking improvements—big or small. They will generate innovative ideas, communicate recommendations to the executive team, and collaborate with the all internal and external stakeholders to drive implementation.



  • Drive and support Agile software development
    • Ensure the development of tactical programs and processes to pursue targeted goals and objectives
    • Identify needs for, evaluate, and decide upon key investments in software, infrastructure, and talent
    • Develop an effective and efficient Product Management function, including defining the team’s overall objective, emphasizing validated data-driven learning, and creating a test-and-learn culture
    • Build strong cross-functional partnerships with engineering, marketing, sales, and services at multiple levels within the company


  • People management
    • Provide direct management of key functional managers and executives in the business unit
    • Oversee key hiring, professional development, as well as performance management programs for the division
    • Define and communicate goals, strategies, and results to the unit’s employees
    • Build and lead a highly talented Platform team who can work together with a shared mission and goal and collaborate with other departments in the achievement of company goals


  • Strategize for divisional and business growth
    • Oversee daily operations of the business unit
    • Ensure overall delivery and quality of the unit’s offerings to customers
    • Analyze and report on the ROI of Product Management initiatives to the executive team
    • Engage with executive management and corporate officers in broader organizational strategic planning
    • Work with the CEO and executive team to define the overall strategy and vision for the Platform division, and work with Product Managers to ensure the creation and implementation of said strategy is designed to grow the business
    • Coordinate the development of key performance goals for functions and direct reports
    • Take ownership of divisional P&L, income and balance sheets to make strategic long and short term budgeting decisions
    • Develop a strategic understanding of target markets and evolving trends in order to drive product evolution
    • Coordinate and execute market research programs, developing business cases to support each business opportunity, and communicate cross-functionally with internal stakeholders
    • Prioritize Platform backlog in form of user stories and define feature scope for a given release
    • Define successful metrics and track, analyze, and report on key performance indicators for functions, as well as direct reports

Skills & Requirements

  • Ability to drive Agile software development
    • 10 years experience in Product Management and Software as a Service
    • Successful experience executing at a high-level, working and reporting directly to executive teams and Board members
    • Public presentation experience—successfully making both business and technical cases to public, industry, and executive audiences
    • Willingness to take ownership and responsibility for the software platform as it is today, as well as moving it forward as per company vision
    • Action-oriented and able to move quickly, fail, learn, and iterate
    • Proven ability to prioritize features, write user stories, and work directly with Product Owners and Designers
    • Proven success launching new and innovative products online
    • Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to articulate technology and product positioning to internal, external, customer, and prospective business audiences
    • Ability to manage multiple projects, set priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast paced, Agile environment


  • People management
    • 10 years experience managing teams and or divisions of 100 or more in an R&D or SaaS setting
    • Previous successful tenure leading a software business or business unit that has attained 50 to100M in revenue
    • Passionate, optimistic person with a bias for action and ability to set a positive example in times of uncertainty and change
    • Able to lead and inspire confidence in customer, vendors, and, most importantly, the team while dealing with uncertainty and resource constraints


  • Ability to plan for divisional and business growth
    • Bachelor’s degree in Business/Computer Science/Engineering (considered an asset)
    • PMP Certification (considered an asset)
    • Experience with and fundamental grasp of a divisional P&L
    • Previous field-level experience with customers and developers of a software product
    • Passion for technology and solving our Partners’ problems
    • Experience driving cross-functional product initiatives that yielded clear competitive advantages
    • High comfort level with lots of customer discovery, using statistics and data to continuously improve the customer experience and ability to “invent on behalf of the user”
    • Proven track record in defining product strategy and establishing a clear set of product principles. High-level strategic thought process—an ability to use customer research as a core tool, understand market dynamics, recognize and identify trends and inputs, and be a key contributor in the development of a comprehensive product roadmap
